Test management
We all agree that validation and verification of our automated information provision system is important. Good quality testing safeguards reliability, usability and manageability and provides insight in the quality of our automation processes. Moreover, good quality testing directly relates to risk and cost management of ICT investments.
When you buy high quality and reliable standard software it will, in essence, live up to your expectation, which is to support the great variety of aspects management has to offer. Highly configurative packages like SAP however, do not consider the above self-evident. Indispensable are the buyers own input during the configuration period, the way business processes are portrayed and the business-critical dependence of this portrait. This requires a high level of extra testing for correctness and accuracy.
This testing is not easy. Every single stage of a software's life cycle require its own proof of performance testing, both on different aspects and at different moments in time. Important questions within test management are when what needs to be tested, by whom and how intensively. These questions have often been answered from a theoretical and systematic point of view, whereas actually practical knowledge and experience regarding business processes, data processing, applications and platforms is desired.
Uphantis and Testing
Uphantis has a different view on testing. We feel that testing is inextricably bound up with our vision on applied technology. Applied technology for us entails that emphasis of validation and verification is put on the interface of business processes and ICT. Not the functioning of the separate units, but the working of the whole is what is important. Testing is not the first matter of importance. Most important is that your automation is doing what it is supposed to do. Clear automation, allowing insight and in accordance with the set requirements.
Services
What can we offer our clients in this field? We advise them about how and when what should be tested by whom, testing being a means and not a goal in itself. We feel that testing is not only about establishment, but also about improvement and innovation. Insight, control, flexibility, effectiveness and reliability are our catchwords. We want to prove that IT does what it is supposed to do, measured to what is needed, not more and not less.
Commitment
To us, applied technology is more than a trade. Optimum management depends on optimum automation. To us, applying technology is more than applying the technologies that are available within the existing market. We evaluate, test and check applications within our own demo-environments, we think along the same lines proactively to look for possible improvements, we seek for available alternatives and support with our own products. Regarding test management, we are actively involved in the working group Testing of the VNSG (Association of Dutch-speaking SAP users). In addition, we are constructing our own innovative test framework for the SAP Exchange Infrastructure.
