Warehouse Management
A Warehouse Management System (WMS) allows not only for more efficient, but also for better stock management. As all goods movements are accurately registered, goods are less easily lost. Through barcode scanning or RFID you can further decrease the number of errors, not only through error reduction when entering data, but also thanks to the extra monitoring possibilities.
Companies want to be able to more promptly address developments within their warehouse. Follow-up reports have become insufficient and there is a strong growing need for real-time control information. When the real-time information exceeds certain limits, applications need to be able to automatically warn users.
In modern logistics there is a clear trend of focusing on the company's key tasks. Stocks are increasingly being outsourced to logistics service providers. Automated data exchange is essential to promptly and accurately act upon stock movements.
Horizontal Integration
Linking ERP to a WMS package is one of Uphantis Logistics Integration's (ULI) expert fields. This entails both internal WMS systems and external products of the logistics service provider. ULI's consultants can guide you from the design phase to the creation of the interface. They are experienced in linking various WMS packages on the market, thus quickly and efficiently implementing the best solution for your organization.
Vertical Integration
The three main reasons for integrating the warehouse system with the shop floor are: real-time staff management, Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) and real-time linking and control of so-called "Material Flow Systems'" (MFS).
Real-time control
The delivery process in warehouses is put under more and more pressure, because the processing speed of products in warehouses increases. Products constantly need to be delivered faster and the timeframe between loading and unloading is decreasing. This evolution emphasizes the need for real-time information and it is also a big challenge to constantly guide the staff according to the latest data available. An optimal solution: a real-time link between the WMS system and the staff.
Automatic Identification and Data Collection
AIDC allows for detailed information on products to be stored and read out, enabling efficient processing of large sets of data. AIDC offers added value especially for (compulsory) tracking and tracing. ULI's consultants have years of experience in implementing this technique in warehouses.
Material Flow Systems
An innovation in the vertical integration SAP products is direct MFS control. Through a real-time link between the ERP system and the cranes, logistics processes can be tuned to one another even faster. This link can be established according to two concepts: either control of the automatic cranes through the software of the hardware provider or control of the cranes through the WMS system. ULI focuses on vertical integration through both concepts.
